After suffering a shocking defeat by 26 runs in the third T20I played at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Tuesday, the Indian men’s cricket team would like to come up with a big show in the fourth T20I against England, which is set to take place at Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on Friday, January 31, and take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the ongoing five-match series. India failed to chase down the target of 172 runs in Rajkot due to a flop show by top-order batters, and there will be high expectations from the likes of Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav in the fourth match.

Samson and Surya have three and four T20I centuries to their names, respectively, but both of them have disappointed so far with their batting performances in the series. Abhishek Sharma scored 79 runs in the series opener, and Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 72 runs in the second match. The left-handed batting duo will also be eager to come up with a big show in Pune and help India seal the series.

Indian team management opted to rest left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh for the third T20I, but the 25-year-old fast bowler is all set to return in the playing XI for the fourth match. Arshdeep has 98 wickets to his name in 62 T20Is played so far, and he is on the cusp of becoming the fastest pacer to take 100 wickets in T20Is.

It will be interesting to see if Mohammed Shami, who played in place of Arshdeep in the last match, gets a chance to be part of the playing XI in Pune or not. Shami bowled three overs in his first international match for India after 14 months on Tuesday but was not able to take any wickets.

If Shami and Arshdeep both play in the fourth T20I, then one out of Washington Sundar or Ravi Bishnoi will have to sit out. India could drop both of the bench as well to make way for Arshdeep and one out of Ramandeep Singh or Shivam Dube in the playing XI.

Dube and Ramandeep were added to India’s T20I squad on Saturday (January 25) after Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the entire series and Rinku Singh was declared unfit for the second and third T20Is.
