Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday reminded one and all of the good old days when he played a brilliant innings against England in the International Masters League at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

In response to the chase of 133, Gurkeerat Singh Mann played the aggressor in the 75-run opening stand, smacking five fours in the first two overs before Tendulkar broke free from the shackles with consecutive fours.

Tendulkar smacked a third four in the next over against former England pacer Chris Tremlett, towering six feet and seven inches, before taking Tim Bresnan to the cleaners in the fifth with three successive strikes. Watch the video here:

Opting to bowl first, Dhawal Kulkarni, Abhimanyu Mithun and Negi restricted England to 132, with former allrounder Darren Maddy being the highest scorer for the visitors with a 24-ball 25.

England had been reduced to 25/2 in just the fifth over before Tim Ambrose and Maddy built a 43-run partnership for the third wicket. But after the former’s dismissal in the 11th over off Negi, England’s innings never gained momentum.

In the chase, India openers Mann and Tendulkar smacked the England bowlers all around the park, as they built a 75-run partnership. The former went for the big hits from the word go as 13 runs came off the first over of the innings bowled by former medium-pacer Ryan Sidebottom.

Mann then smacked Bresnan for another 13-run over, which was India’s second of the innings. It was Tendulkar’s turn next, as he hit former medium-pacer Steven Finn for two boundaries as a 12-run over followed.

The runs kept flowing as the fourth over bowled by Tremlett yielded 11 runs, the fifth bowled by Bresnan 16, with only the final over of the powerplay yielding just three runs.

The brilliant partnership between Mann and Tendulkar (34 off 21) was only broken when former allrounder Chris Schofield dismissed the latter, much to the disappointment of the fans.
