Shafali Verma Bags Hattrick In Women's U23 ODI Trophy For Haryana vs Karnataka
The out-of-favour India batter Shafali Verma, who bowls part-time off-spin, dismissed Saloni P and Soumya Verma off the last two balls of the 44th over on Monday.

Star India batter Shafali Verma on Monday claimed a hattrick in the ongoing Women’s U-23 ODI Trophy for Haryana against Karnataka, which was being played at Fulung in North Guwahati. The match was a pre-quarterfinal tie between the two teams.
Shafali, who bowls part-time off-spin, dismissed P Saloni (30) and wicketkeeper-batter Soumya Verma (0 off 1) off the last two deliveries of the 44th over.

Shafali then returned in the 46th over to clean up Namita D’Souza’s (1) stumps with the very first ball, completing a memorable hat-trick.
Shafali ended the game with figures of 4-0-20-3, playing a match-winning role for her team in the domestic competition.
Shafali’s effort helped Haryana bag a six-wicket victory over Karnataka and a spot in the quarterfinals.
The achievement came just two days after Shafali’s WPL team, the Delhi Capitals, lost their third successive final.
Known for her aggressive batting style, Shafali was dropped from the Indian side after the T20 World Cup in the UAE in 2024.
Since then, Shafali has been piling up runs with brilliant consistency in domestic cricket as she looks for a national side comeback.
Shafali finished the Women’s Premier League as the fourth-highest run-scorer, behind overseas stars Nat Sciver-Brunt, Ellyse Perry and Hayley Matthews.
In the match, Shafali won the toss and put Karnataka into bat. In the final over of the powerplay, allrounder Kareena Jangra dismissed Roshni Kiran for 17.
Lavanya Chalana and GR Prerana then added 44 runs for the second wicket before the former was dismissed by Triveni Vasistha in the 20th over.
Soon, Karnataka were reduced to 94/4 in the 28th over before Mithila Vinod and Saloni added 94 runs for the fifth wicket. Shafali then picked up her three wickets to reduce Karnataka to 198/7 in the 46th over.
The opposition were eventually bowled out for 217 with Shafali being the highlight of Haryana’s bowling innings.
In the chase, Haryana were reduced to 32/2 in the seventh over. Deeya Yadav and Soniya Mendhiya then added 39 runs for the third wicket before the former was dismissed by Saloni in the 15th over.
Mendhiya and Tanisha Ohlan then added 92 runs for the fourth wicket before Saloni also dismissed the former in the 32nd over. Ohlan and Vasistha then built a 56-run partnership for the fifth wicket to take Haryana over the line.
