RCB Kickstart IPL 2025 In Style
Rain was forecast during the opening match of IPL 2025 between KKR and RCB. However, the weather cleared up by afternoon in Kolkata. RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to bowl first.
KKR’s innings were powered by their captain Ajinkya Rahane’s blistering half-century and a typical 26-ball 44 from big-hitting Sunil Narine. The pair added 103 runs in quick time for the second wicket after Josh Hazlewood had sent back Quinton de Kock for four runs in the very first over.
RCB bowlers bounced back and from 107/1 in the first half of their innings, KKR were limited to 174/8 in 20 overs.
RCB openers Kohli and Phil Salt then ransacked 80 runs in the Powerplay to set the tone of the chase.
Salt made 31-ball 56 while Kohli remained unbeaten on 59 off 36 as RCB overhauled the target in 16.2 overs for a big seven-wicket win to open their account. The victory has given RCB two points and a healthy net run-rate of 2.137.
