Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell pulled off a stunning catch on Wednesday in the KFC Big Bash League encounter between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars in an early contender for the catch of the year already.
Heat batter Will Prestwidge seemed to have cleared the boundary line with a shot at long-on off a Dan Lawrence delivery before Maxwell produced a superhuman effort to keep the ball from crossing the boundary rope as he flicked it back before coming back onto the field to complete the catch with safe hands.

Maxwell, fondly known as the Big Show, has the ability to take the game away from the opposition on his day with his maverick batting and crafty bowling. However, he adds an extra dimension to the team on the field thanks to his athleticism and qualities on the ground.
The big-hitter was released by IPL side Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of the 2025 mega auction following a severe dip in form in the previous edition of the cash-rich T20 franchise league despite his performances in the past.
But RCB’s loss could prove to be Punjab Kings’ gain as the Preity Zinta-owned side managed to rope in the Australian for a value of INR 4.2 Crores.
Maxwell enjoyed a good spell with the Dharamshala-based side between 2014 and 2017, and then again in the year 2020 before RCB priced the all-rounder away in he year 2021.
A return to the PBKS could spark a tur of fortunes for the Aussie maverick on Indian soil as he sets out to shush naysayers yet again.
