Watch: Venky Mysore Gets Up And Applauds As Moeen Ali Dislodges Former KKR Star Nitish Rana Cheaply
Nitish Rana was released by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction before being signed by Rajasthan Royals.

After spending six fruitful years with Kolkata Knight Riders, top-order batter Nitish Rana was released by the defending IPL champions ahead of the mega auction last year. Rana was integral to KKR’s batting line-up during his stay with the three-time champions and even captained the side when Shreyas Iyer wasn’t available during IPL 2023.
However, the franchise didn’t even use the Right To Match (RTM) card at the two-day mega auction held in Jeddah to buy back the India batter. Following the snub, both Rana and his wife took subtle digs at KKR.

In a cryptic post, Rana’s wife Saachi Marwah wrote, “Loyalty is very expensive, not everyone can afford it."
And after Rana was roped in by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 4.2 crore, the cricketer responded with a dig of his own: “Royal-ty is Pink!"
So when Rana faced his former franchise in an IPL 2025 clash in Guwahati on Wednesday night, he had a point or two to prove. However, he was dismissed cheaply by new KKR recruit Moeen Ali for 8 off 9.
And soon after his dismissal, the visual of KKR CEO Venky Mysore were beamed on live Television as he got up to applaud the key dismissal.

RR would be limited to 151/9 in their 20 overs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium – their second home venue of the ongoing season.
KKR sauntered to the target thanks to a blistering innings from their opening batter Quinton de Kock who made an unbeaten 61-ball 97. The visitors chased down the target in 17.3 overs for their first win of the season.
On the other hand, this was RR’s second defeat in a row after finishing second-best against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a high-scoring affair last weekend. Chasing a mammoth 287, the inaugural champions finished at 242/6.
RR will next face five-time champions Chennai Super Kings on Sunday in Guwahati.
