West Indies Name T20I Squad for South Africa Series: Andre Russell, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph Not Included
Andre Russell, Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph have been rested for the upcoming three-match series.
West Indies have announced a 15-man squad for their upcoming three-match T20I series with South Africa at home. Rovman Powell will continue to lead the side with Roston Chase as his deputy.
Three big names though are missing from the squad including allrounders Andre Russell and Jason Holder along with right-arm pacer Azlarri Joseph.

Russell, after representing West Indies at the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, played in the Major League Cricket in the USA followed by The Hundred in England.

On the other hand, Holder, who missed the T20 World Cup due to an injury, played five Tests in a row for West Indies including against England and South Africa.
As per a release from Cricket West Indies, both Russell and Holder had asked to be rested.
“Andre Russell requested a period of rest and recovery as well as Jason Holder who played five back-to-back five Tests against England and South Africa. During this period, they will work closely with the CWI science and medicine team," the statement read.
Meanwhile, Joseph continues to be a notable absentee with the 27-year-old last featuring for West Indies in the two-Test series against England in July.
West Indies coach Daren Sammy says they have already started preparing for the 2026 T20 World Cup and has full faith in the squad selected for the South Africa T20Is.
“Facing a strong South Africa side is an excellent opportunity for our team to reset and refocus with our game plan," Sammy said. “We have played them recently and had mixed results, so this should be an exciting and important series. I’m confident in the squad we’ve selected, and with eyes already on the next T20 World Cup in 2026, I know the guys will be keen to show their hunger for success."
