Why Has BCCI Punished PBKS Allrounder Glenn Maxwell?
Glenn Maxwell had another forgettable outing with the bat for PBKS and was later fined by the BCCI for breaching IPL code of conduct.

Punjab Kings’ allrounder Punjab Kings had another ordinary outing with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2025 even as the team recorded another impressive win. Maxwell managed 1 off 2 against Chenai Super Kings on Tuesday night before being dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin. He was later fined 25 per cent of his match fees by the BCCI for breaching IPL code of conduct.
Additionally, a demerit point has also been added to Maxwell‘s disciplinary record.

“The Punjab Kings allrounder admitted to the Level 1 offence under article 2.2 (abuse of fixtures and fittings during the Match) and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction," the BCCI said in a statement late Tuesday night.
Why Maxwell Has Been Punished?
Maxwell was found guilty of having committed an offense that falls under article 2.2 of IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials.
“Article 2.2 includes any action(s) outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets and any action(s) which deliberately (i.e. intentionally), recklessly or negligently (in either case even if accidental) results in damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows and other fixtures and fittings. For example, this offence may be committed, without limitation, when a Player swings his/her bat vigorously in frustration and causes damage to an advertising board," reads the rule.
He may not have made a significant impact with the bat, but Maxwell continues to pick up wickets with his spin bowling. He got the prized scalp of CSK opener Rachin Ravindra who had got the start and struck six fours in his 36 off 23.
Batting first PBKS posted a mammoth total of 219/6 thanks to a record-breaking century from the unheralded Priyansh Arya. With seven fours and nine sixes, the young opener smashed 103 off 42 despite top-order collapse that saw as many as four PBKS batters registering scores in single digit.
Shashank Singh scored a quickfire half-century – 52* off 36 – while Marco Jansen belted 19-ball 34* to provide the late flourish. In reply, CSK managed 201/5.
