After Sambalpur, IIM Raipur Announces Independent Admissions for MBA, Exits CAP 2025
Following IIM Sambalpur, IIM Raipur has also decided to opt out of the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2025.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur has announced to conduct admissions to its prestigious 2-year MBA programme through independent selection process in the upcoming cycle. After IIM Sambalpur, IIM Raipur has also decided not to be part of the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2025 and will evaluate candidates directly based on their CAT scores and personal interview.
With this strategic shift, IIM Raipur aims to offer applicants a streamlined and personalized application experience that underscores the institute’s unwavering commitment to academics and innovation in management education.

Speaking to News18.com, Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur, said, “Our institute focuses on the overall development of our students. Along with academic excellence, we provide opportunities to develop cross-cultural and emotional intelligence, innovation, and entrepreneurship. By conducting our own admission process, we aim to offer a more personalized and smooth experience for applicants, in line with our goal of fostering talent and innovation."
“For example, we will have at least one industry expert on our interview panel. We plan to hold interviews in 8 cities, including Guwahati and Lucknow, to reach out to the remote areas of our country. This will help us expand the social reach of our flagship MBA program, which is taught by our highly skilled faculty, and continue to set high standards in academic excellence, diversity, and industry relevance, empowering students to succeed globally," He added.
IIM Raipur MBA Admissions Schedule
The short-listing of profiles for IIM Raipur’s MBA admissions will begin in the second week of January 2025. Admission interviews will take place in eight cities in India: Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Guwahati, and Raipur. The interviews are scheduled from February 10 to March 9, 2025. Candidates can find detailed information, including eligibility criteria, selection procedures, and guidelines on the official IIM Raipur Admissions Portal.
IIM Raipur has maintained a strong gender diversity ratio in recent years. For the 2022-2024 batch, the highest CTC (Cost to Company) offered was Rs 42.29 LPA, with the average CTC at Rs 18.15 LPA. The institute’s industry connections helped attract 116 recruiters during the last placement drive, including 38 new companies joining the recruiter pool.
