Gujarat’s Right to Education (RTE) admission process for the academic year 2025 has commenced, offering economically disadvantaged students a chance to secure seats in private schools. The application window is open until March 12, 2025.
In Ahmedabad, around 1,300 private schools have earmarked 14,778 seats under the RTE quota. The Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009 mandates private schools to offer free education to students from Classes 1 to 8. This includes reserving 25 per cent of seats in pre-primary classes for children from marginalized and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Application forms allow parents to list up to 10 preferred schools for their children.

To qualify for admission, children must meet specific eligibility requirements. They should fall within the designated age group for pre-primary classes, generally ranging from 3 to 6 years old. Moreover, the child’s family must belong to economically weaker sections or other disadvantaged categories, ensuring equal access to education for underprivileged groups. Selected students will be required to visit the assigned school with original documents for final verification and admission.
