Percentile Score = 100 x (No. of students who secured a score equal to or less than the student) / (Total number of students who appeared in that session of a particular exam)

Now that the JEE Main 2024 session 1 results are out, the toppers list, cut-offs, and percentile will be released shortly by the NTA.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) – 2024 record will be kept on record on the official website for ninety days following the date the results are announced.

Yes. The candidate(s) who engage in unfair methods and practices shall have their JEE (Main) – 2024 results cancelled and not released. Similarly, the results of applicants who appear from a different centre than the one that was assigned to them or allow another candidate/person to write the examination on their behalf shall be annulled. No appeal will be accepted in this regard by the NTA.

The top 2.5 lakh qualifying students from JEE Main are eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced Exam. Those who pass the Advanced exam can apply to get into the Indian Institutes of Technology across the country.

The exam fee for male applicants from the unreserved, general-EWS, OBC category is Rs 900. On the other hand the application fee is Rs 800 for female applicants from the same categories; and Rs 500 for SC, ST, PwD, and Transgender category candidates.

NTA has commenced with the registration for JEE Main 2024 Session 2 on February 2 on the official website at jeemain.nta.ac.in. The last date to apply is March 2 and the exams will be held from April 4 to 15.

The JEE Main 2024 Session 1 examination were administered by the NTA from January 24 to February 1.

In the marking scheme, a correct answer is rewarded with four marks (+4), while an incorrect answer incurs a deduction of one mark (-1). If a question remains unanswered or is marked for review, it receives no marks (0). In the event that a question is deemed incorrect or excluded, all participants who attempted it will be granted four marks (+4). This discrepancy may arise from either human error or technical issues during the assessment process.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2023 indicates that IIT Madras continues to be the top engineering college in India, with IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay coming in second and third, respectively.

Saumitra Garg secured 100 percentile in JEE Main 2022 Session 1. The 19-year-old also cleared KVPY – the entrance exam for IISc Bangalore. He said that he managed to get the 100 percentile score in the engineering entrance without much preparation. “I did not focus on JEE Main. I have been preparing for the IIT entrance exam – JEE Advanced for the past two years. There are only a few chapters which are different in JEE Main and Advanced. Since Advance is a better difficulty exam, clearing concepts for it helped me automatically prepare for Main. I did not focus much on it as my main aim has always been getting a seat in an IIT,” he told News18.com.

NTA scores are normalised scores across multi-session papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who appeared for the examination in one session. The marks obtained are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees. NTA score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained.

IIT Madras offers BSc in programming and data science to students of classes 11, and 12, college students, working professionals, and those taking a career break. Candidates need to apply for the qualifier process and qualify the same to join the course. They do not need to crack JEE Main and JEE Advanced. There is no limit on the number of seats and hence anyone who qualifies can enter the programme.

Under the tie-breaker rule, candidates receive marks based on various criteria. The candidate who ranks higher according to the specified rules is given priority in the JEE Main result. This situation generally happens between the top one or two performers.

Over 12 lakh students or around 95.8 per cent of the registered candidates appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination session 1 2024.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) 2024 session 2 exam dates have been revised by the NTA. The second session of JEE Main which was scheduled to take place from April 1 will now begin on April 4. The exam will end on April 15.

In the JEE Main exam, each question has four answer options, with one correct option. One correct answer carries four marks, One mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. This deduction equals one-fourth of the marks for a correct answer. Candidates can use the final answer key and the marking scheme to calculate their probable scores.

The engineering entrance exam is held for three hours, except for candidates appearing for the joint exam of BArch and BPlanning, who have 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete the paper. The exam carries a total of 300 marks with 30 questions each from physics, math and chemistry.

Candidates who have secured at least 75 per cent marks in the Class 12 examination or are in the top 20 percentile in the examination conducted by respective Boards are eligible to appear for JEE Main. For SC, ST candidates, a score of around 65 per cent in the Class 12 examination is necessary.

As many as 95.8% of the registered candidates participated in Paper 1 (BE/BTech) during the JEE Main January 2024 exam, as per data released by NTA. This represents one of the highest attendance rates ever recorded for the JEE Main. Out of the 12,21,615 candidates who registered for JEE Main Paper 1, a total of 11,70,036 candidates appeared for the exam. For the JEE Main session 1 BArch / B.Planning paper, 55,493 out of the total 74,002 registered candidates took the exam.
