Thackeray Scoreboard: Aaditya Retains Worli, Varun Wins Bandra East, Amit Loses Mahim
Maharashtra election results: While Aaditya Thackeray took on Milind Deora in Worli, his cousin and Sena UBT leader Varun Sardesai was up against Zeeshan Siddique in Bandra East. MNS's Amit Thackeray was fielded from Mahim

Amid the poor show of his faction of the Shiv Sena, the Maharashtra assembly elections offered some respite to Uddhav Thackeray – while his son Aaditya Thackeray retained the Worli seat, his nephew Varun Sardesai won Bandra East.
Amit Thackeray – the son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief and Uddhav’s estranged cousin Raj Thackeray – lost to Sena UBT’s Mahesh Sawant in Mahim.

THE WORLI FIGHT: AADITYA THACKERAY VS MILIND DEORA
Part of the Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency, it was a prestige seat for Uddhav Thackeray. While Aaditya was confident of the initiatives that began under his father’s tenure as the CM, including the BDD chawl redevelopment and the Worli-Sewri project, Shinde Sena’s Milind Deora was called a “sacrificial lamb".
Deora, a former Congress leader and union minister of state, joined the Sena before the Lok Sabha polls this year and was subsequently elected to the Rajya Sabha. MNS’s Sandeep Deshpande was also in the fray.
In 2019, Aaditya became the first from his family to venture into electoral politics by contesting from the seat in Mumbai. The win against NCP-supported Suresh Mane was easy
THE BANDRA EAST FIGHT: VARUN SARDESAI (SENA UBT) VS ZEESHAN SIDDIQUE
Taking on Zeeshan Siddique, who was riding on the sympathy factor following the murder of his father and NCP Ajit Pawar leader Baba Siddique, wasn’t easy for Varun Sardesai. Campaigning in the Muslim-dominated seat, Zeeshan kept asking for justice for his father.
The seat, which houses the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), is especially important for the Thackerays as it houses Matoshree.
The MNS had pitched ex-Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Trupti Sawant, while Kunal Sarmalkar from Shinde Sena was contesting as an independent.

THE MAHIM FIGHT: AMIT THACKERAY (MNS) VS MAHESH SAWANT (SENA UBT) VS SADA SARVANKAR (SHINDE SENA)
The seat, which houses the Shiv Sena Bhavan, now Sena UBT headquarters, and the prestigious Shivaji Park, saw a three-way fight. Shinde Sena’s Sarvakar versus UBT’s Mahesh Sawant got the interest up, but the addition of MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s son Amit made it high-voltage battle.

While novice Amit Thackeray was campaigning, it was father Raj Thackeray who was doing the heavy-lifting. Eventually, Mahim became a prestige battle between the Senas — Sena UBT and Raj’s MNS.
