Oooooooo huzoooor… Himesh Reshammiya enjoys a cult-like following in the Hindi cinema space. Started out as a Hindi music director in 1998’s Bandhan and Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Reshammiya’s illustrious career has yielded some of the biggest blockbusters that still somehow hog disk space in the playlists of millennials. His foray into singing with unique nasal-style voice coupled with a characteristic hat catapulted him to stardom he had never seen before. His appearances in music videos became the bread and butter of music channels. Heck, some even confused him with Emraan Hashmi. Oh, the good ol’ days.

‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne,’ ‘Odh Li Chunariya,’ ‘Aap Ki Kashish,’ ‘Tumse Milna,’ ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja,’ ‘Jumme Ki Raat,’ ‘Hookah Bar,’ ‘Teri Yaad’ – the list of hit tracks served by him is endless, so is the love for Himesh bhai. Then, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that folks on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) took some time off of their busy lives to list their favourite Himesh Reshammiya tracks.

    Badass Ravi Kumar

Himesh Reshammiya’s immense popularity in music videos was perhaps the push musician needed who then embarked upon a new journey of acting and is still going strong in 2025. Aap Kaa Surroor, made in 2007 on a budget of Rs 9 crore, was received poorly by critics but ended up making Rs 19.5 crore in revenue. Reshammiya has, since then, largely contributed to the genre of movies that are “so bad that they are good" and just like that a movie star was born. Get this, Reshammiya has already acted in 10 movies as leading man in Hindi movies.

Badass Ravi Kumar was Reshammiya’s latest instalment, taglined as the “80s type ki picture". With an ensemble cast including Prabhu Deva, Sanjay Mishra, Johny Lever, Kirti Kulhari, Manish Wadhwa, Anil George, among others, the “musical action" cinema released in 2025, received ironically-positive reviews, as expected.

“A wild, crazy, over-the-top ride that transports you to the cinema of 1980s… Don’t ask questions or look for logic… Extra points for its high-energy songs and seetimaar dialogues," Taran Adarsh, giving Badass Ravikumar a strong 3.5 stars, wrote over his ‘X’ account. “#HimeshReshammiya gets into the #Jaani #RaajKumar zone, delivering sharp, dhamakedaar dialogues with a straight face. He’s undeniably the show-stopper of #BadassRaviKumar."

He is not a human anymore, he can do anything. He is… Lord Himesh. It is essentially a special title awarded by fans that celebrates the musician while also taking self-aware pokes at him – letting others know that they are being sarcastic when praising a piece of work by Lord Himesh. Or it could just be because of his lengthy, successful career in whatever he has immersed himself into so far, we could be mistaken.
