Bihar Man Boards AC Coach With Rs 4 Lakh Opium. This Gave Him Away
During questioning, the man revealed that he boarded the train in Patna and had planned to collect opium packets while he was on his way to Ambala Cantt, and then return to Bihar

The RPF Crime Branch team apprehended a smuggler in possession of 16 kg of opium at Charbagh railway station in Lucknow. The smuggler, identified as 25-year-old Sandeep Rai, a resident of Saran district in Bihar, was en route to Ambala on the Ganga Sutlej Express with the illicit consignment.
Travelling in AC coach (on seat number 24, H-1 of train number 13307), the accused had a blue backpack in his possession. His suspicious activities prompted the GRP to search the bag, revealing four plastic packets containing opium. The GRP estimates the market value of the seized opium to be over Rs 4 lakh.

During interrogation, Sandeep disclosed that he had boarded the train in Patna. A local supplier was supposed to provide him with the opium packets before he reached Ambala Cantt. His plan involved returning to Bihar from Ambala, but his scheme was thwarted when the GRP and RPF Crime Branch apprehended him in Lucknow. The operation involved the collaborative efforts of the RPF Crime Branch of Northeast Railway and the GRP team.
This incident follows a previous seizure two months ago at Charbagh station, where the police recovered opium worth lakhs of rupees being smuggled in a truck from Gosainganj in Lucknow. Furthermore, eight months ago, the GRP arrested a female smuggler at Charbagh railway station in Lucknow.
The woman, identified as Pramila Devi, was found in possession of opium worth Rs 30 lakh. Her modus operandi involved transporting opium from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand to Bareilly, for which she received Rs 10,000 per consignment.
