ED Raids Premises Of Bhupesh Baghel’s Son
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 10 carried out extensive searches at the residence of the son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel in connection with an alleged liquor scam linked to a money laundering case in the state.
The probe agency raided around 15 locations, including the residence of Chaitanya Baghel in Bhilai. The ED earlier said the Chhattisgarh liquor “scam" resulted in “massive loss" to the state exchequer and filled the pockets of the beneficiaries of a liquor syndicate with more than Rs 2,100 crore of proceeds of crime.
However, following the searches, Congress workers, agitated with the raids, clashed with police personnel deployed outside Baghel’s residence and raised slogans against the probe agency. The team of ED officials was also attacked and manhandled outside the Congress leader’s residence in Durg.
