In a shocking late-night incident that stunned Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer city, a young delivery boy working for an e-commerce giant attempted self-immolation following a heated confrontation with his former manager over a disputed payment.

The incident unfolded around 9 PM on Tuesday, April 22, in Achalvanshi Colony, where Prakash Mali, a former delivery executive for Flipkart, arrived at the home of his manager Hitesh Prajapat. Mali, a resident of Barabagh area, was agitated and demanded the return of his mobile phone, recounted eyewitnesses. The situation quickly escalated when Prajapat refused to comply, citing an unresolved financial dispute.

Despite attempts by Hitesh’s brother, Chandraprakash, to pacify the youth, Mali allegedly stormed away from the house. Moments later, in a horrific turn, he doused himself with petrol and set himself on fire just 50 feet from the property. The chilling scene left bystanders in a state of shock.

Speaking to reporters, Chandraprakash recounted the harrowing moment, saying that they saw the flames and rushed to save him. “We threw soil on him and managed to extinguish the fire. Then we rushed him to Jawahar Hospital," he said.

Mali, who suffered serious burn injuries, was later referred to a medical facility in Jodhpur for advanced treatment.

Cops from Kotwali police station, led by Station House Officer Premdan Ratan, are currently probing the case. “We are gathering all statements and verifying the facts. Appropriate legal action will follow based on the investigation," he stated.

The incident appears to have stemmed from a bitter monetary dispute. According to Prajapat, Mali had been employed as a delivery agent for Flipkart and was paid Rs 13 per parcel delivered. Prajapat alleged that Mali collected Rs 4,500 from a customer for a delivery but failed to deposit the amount with the company. “When we asked him to return the money, he abruptly left the job ten days ago and began avoiding our calls," Prajapat claimed.

The tension reportedly intensified when Mali’s brother called Prajapat to demand the return of Mali’s mobile phone which Prajapat claimed that he had held as leverage to recover the company’s dues.
