'Maiden' Event: Only Female Cops To Manage PM Modi's International Women’s Day Meet In Gujarat's Navsari

On March 8, Navsari will witness an all-woman show as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme in Gujarat will be managed entirely by female personnel of the Gujarat police.
In what is perhaps an unprecedented event, security arrangements for the PM’s International Women’s Day programme, to be held in Vansi Borsi village in Navsari, will be handled entirely by women police officers from across Gujarat. 2,145 women constables, 187 women sub-inspectors, 61 women inspectors, 16 women deputy SPs, five women SPs, one woman IG, and one woman ADGP will oversee security arrangements—from the helipad where the PM will land to the entire route and the rally venue. Gujarat’s woman home secretary, Nipuma Torawane, will head the arrangements.

The Prime Minister will participate in the Lakhpati Didi programme in Vansi Borsi village in Navsari district and interact with the Lakhpati Didis. He will also felicitate five of them with Lakhpati Didi certificates.
More than 150,000 women from across the state will attend the event on International Women’s Day.
Women’s empowerment has been a cornerstone of the work done by the government. Guided by the vision of the Prime Minister, the government has been committed to taking steps towards their all-round development.
The public function will also witness the launch of various schemes. The Lakhpati Didi scheme was launched by the Modi government on August 15, 2023.
The Prime Minister will launch the G-SAFAL (Gujarat Scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods) and G-MAITRI (Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income) programmes of the Government of Gujarat.
The G-MAITRI scheme will provide financial assistance and handholding support to start-ups that are working towards creating a conducive environment for rural livelihoods.
G-SAFAL will provide financial assistance and entrepreneurial training to SHG women of Antyodaya families in two Aspirational Districts and 13 Aspirational Blocks of Gujarat.
The PM will be disbursing Rs 450 crore in financial assistance to more than 250,000 women from over 25,000 self-help groups.
