Mumbai Man Sets Mother-in-Law On Fire In Tempo Truck, Both Die

A horrific incident has unfolded in Mumbai’s Navghar Police Station area. A man brutally murdered his mother-in-law by setting her ablaze inside his mini-truck. The accused had lured the victim into the vehicle under the pretence of taking her to hospital. Following the assault, he also set himself on fire and succumbed to burn injuries.
The accused, identified as 56-year-old Krishna Daji Ashtankar, allegedly murdered his 72-year-old mother-in-law, Babi Daji Usare, before setting himself on fire.

According to reports, Krishna’s wife had left him five to six months prior and was residing with her mother, Babi Usare. Krishna, employed as a driver, was deeply distressed by his wife’s departure.
Despite numerous attempts to reconcile with his wife, she refused to return. Krishna held his mother-in-law responsible, believing she had instigated his wife’s anger and subsequent separation. Following his wife’s departure, he had been living in his mini-truck and earning a living as a driver.
On February 24, the day of the incident, Krishna visited the victim’s house. However, he refrained from any confrontation with his wife or mother-in-law, concealing his sinister plan.
Luring his mother-in-law into the mini-truck with the promise of a hospital visit, he swiftly closed the shutters once she was inside and launched a brutal assault, striking her repeatedly with a heavy object.
The 72-year-old victim was caught completely off guard and could offer no resistance. Following the beating, Krishna doused his mother-in-law with petrol and set her on fire. He then set himself ablaze.
Alerted by the shocking incident, Navghar police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the scene, but their efforts were in vain. Both victims had sustained severe burns and were transported to Veer Savarkar Hospital, where they were pronounced dead upon arrival. The tragic deaths have sent shockwaves through the community. Navghar police are currently investigating the incident.
