Parliament Budget Session Day 7 Updates: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will introduce the New Income Tax Bill this week, after which it will go to a parliamentary committee.

Budget Session of Parliament Day 7 Updates: The Parliament has reconvened again on Monday for the seventh day of the first part of the Budget Session. The Budget Session will be held in two parts – between January 31 and February 13 and then from March 10 to April 4.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to introduce the New Income Tax bill this week, after which it will be referred to a parliament committee. She will give a reply to the Union Budget debate tomorrow at 5 pm.
As proceedings began, Congress MP Sonia Gandhi addressed the Rajya Sabha, demanding a population census to be conducted at the earliest so that people could avail the benefits of welfare schemes. She said at least 14 crore eligible Indians were deprived of their benefits under the National Food Security Act.
The government and opposition MPs spared on Friday over the Union Budget announced by Sitharaman at the start of this month. Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee said that the NDA has reversed the pattern of Robin Hood – by taking from the poor and giving to the wealthy elite.
However, BJP MPs praised the budget and called it an indication of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat. BJP MP from Jaipur Rural Rao Rajendra Singh claimed the Centre gave maximum benefits to the middle class compared to any other government of the past. Later, Sitharaman joined the Lok Sabha proceedings.
The Lok Sabha was repeatedly adjourned in last few days following disruptions by the Opposition over the deportation of illegal Indian migrants from the US.
