A man disguised as a ‘sadhu’ has been apprehended by the police from Bhopal district in Bihar’s Kaimur. The accused, Nitesh Kumar Dubey, a teacher by profession, has been charged with abetting the suicide of a young girl. He allegedly fled to Bihar following the incident.
In Bihar, Dubey disguised himself as a ‘sadhu’ and travelled to the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj with his family. The police, also adopting the guise of ‘sadhus’, searched for him at the Kumbh and ultimately apprehended him.

On January 25, the accused allegedly molested a girl student in Bhopal. Upon receiving the information about the girl’s death on January 26, he fled to Bihar. The accused, a resident of Alipur in Kaimur, also switched off his mobile phone.
A day later, he left for the Maha Kumbh with his family. As soon as he switched his phone on, the police traced his location. A case was registered against the accused on January 31, and the search for him began.
SP Pramod Kumar Sinha formed a team to apprehend the accused and announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for his arrest. The police reached his village only to discover he had gone to the Maha Kumbh Mela.
The police, disguised as ‘sadhus’, attempted to apprehend him at Maha Kumbh but were unsuccessful due to the large crowds. After bathing on Magh Purnima, the accused left the Kumbh area for home. The police, upon receiving this information, pursued and apprehended him.
The accused, who used to teach English at a private school in Sukhi Sewania village, has confessed to his crime. On January 25, during the school vacation, Nitesh Dubey allegedly molested an 11th-grade student in the classroom. The student, deeply distressed by the incident, tragically took her own life. She died in hospital on January 26.
The student had confided in her father about the molestation, but the police reportedly did not take any action. The matter came to light when the victim’s father went to the Collectorate office to plead for justice. A case was registered on January 31.
