Summers bring sunshine, vacations, and outdoor fun, but the sweltering heat also poses several health risks. From dehydration to heat strokes, here are five common health issues people face during summers and tips to stay safe.

1. Dehydration

Excessive sweating during hot weather can lead to dehydration, causing dizziness, fatigue, and dry skin.

Tip: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you’re not thirsty. Incorporate hydrating foods like watermelon, cucumber, and coconut water into your diet. Avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol consumption.

    2. Heat Stroke

Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can lead to heat stroke, a serious condition characterized by a rapid rise in body temperature, nausea, and confusion.

Tip: Stay indoors during peak sun hours (12 PM – 4 PM). Wear loose, light-colored clothing and use a hat or umbrella when stepping out. If symptoms of heat stroke appear, move to a cool place immediately and hydrate.

    3. Food Poisoning

Rising temperatures speed up bacterial growth in food, leading to foodborne illnesses.

Tip: Always refrigerate perishable foods properly. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating. Avoid consuming street food or anything that has been left out for too long.

    4. Skin Rashes and Sunburn

Excessive sweating can lead to prickly heat rashes, while prolonged sun exposure causes painful sunburns.

Tip: Wear breathable cotton clothes to absorb sweat. Apply sunscreen with SPF 30+ before stepping out. Shower twice daily to keep your skin fresh and bacteria-free.

    5. Allergies & Infections

Dust, pollen, and increased humidity can trigger respiratory allergies, eye infections, and fungal skin infections.
