Holi 2025: Holi is a festival of colours and fun, but it can also lead to skin, hair, and health issues. However, with a little preparation in advance, you can double the joy of Holi while keeping yourself protected. Here are some easy and effective tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable Holi:

  1. Before playing Holi, apply a light layer of coconut, mustard, or olive oil on your face, hands, feet, and neck. This will prevent the colours from penetrating too deeply into the skin, making them easier to remove.
  2. If you are celebrating Holi outdoors during the day, be sure to apply sunscreen. This will protect your skin from tanning and sunburn, especially if you are exposed to the sun for a long time.
  3. To shield your hair from colours, apply oil generously beforehand. This will prevent the colours from sticking to your hair and make them easier to wash off. If possible, keep your hair tied up to minimise colour exposure.
  4. To protect your eyes and lips from colours, apply a little petroleum jelly or cold cream. This will prevent the colours from adhering to these sensitive areas, making them easier to clean.
  5. If you wear contact lenses, avoid using them on Holi. Water and colour particles can get trapped in the lenses, causing irritation and potential eye infections. Instead, it is safer to wear glasses.
  6. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated while playing Holi. Consume Thandai, coconut water, and fresh juices to maintain your energy levels throughout the day.
  7. Avoid using harsh soap to remove colours. Instead, apply a paste of gram flour, curd, and turmeric. This will keep your skin soft and prevent irritation.
