Actor Abhishek Banerjee received a lot of praise for essaying the role of Jana in Maddock Films’ horror comedy movies such as Stree, Bhediya and Munjya. Maddock Films is set to redefine cinematic universes in India with its much-anticipated horror-comedy slate announcement, featuring projects like Thama, Shakti Shalini, Chamunda, Pehla Mahayudh, and Doosra Mahayudh. Will Abhishek Banerjee be a part of the expanding horror-comedy universe? The actor hints at his character Jana’s potential involvement, stating Jana’s appeal to ghosts and demons might lead to exciting possibilities.
Maddock Films’ announcement about upcoming films in the horror-comedy universe has sparked speculation among fans about Jana’s role in it. With his knack for attracting ghosts and demons, Jana seems poised to become a pivotal character across the franchise, raising expectations for his appearance in upcoming projects. Sharing his thoughts on the announcement, Abhishek Banerjee said, “In Stree, Bhediya and Munjya, the audience have seen Jana. And about the other projects, well let’s just say, Jana Bhooton (ghosts) aur Daanavo (demons) ka favourite hai toh kuch bhi ho sakta hai. But yes, not just as an actor, as someone who loves this genre, this is a great start to 2025."

On Thursday, Maddock Films announced a lineup of eight films that will be part of the expanding horror-comedy universe in the coming years. Stree 3 is all set to hit the screen on 13 August 2027. Apart from this, the makers also announced the release dates of other horror comedy films– Thama (releasing on Diwali 2025), ShaktiShalini (on 31st December 2025), Bhediya 2(14th August 2026) , Chamunda (4th December 2026), Maha Munjya (24th December 2027), Pehla Mahayudh (11th August 2028) and Doosara Mahayudh (18th October 2028).
Meanwhile, Abhishek Banerjee was last seen in Stree 2. He will be seen next in Ribhu Dasgupta-directed ‘Section 84’, which stars Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. He will also be seen in Vipul Shah’s film ‘Hisaab’, which stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Shefali Shah. As a casting director, his upcoming projects include Paatal Lok season 2, Rana Naidu season 2, and Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par.
