Barkha Bisht On Being Sued By Ekta Kapoor: 'She Could Have Ended My Career'

Barkha Bisht recently took a trip down memory lane, and let’s just say—it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. The actress, who kicked off her TV career as Udita in Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi, opened up about a pretty stressful chapter from her early days in the industry. At just 23, she found herself in hot water after quitting a Balaji Telefilms show, leading to none other than ace producer Ekta Kapoor suing her!

Juggling her passion for acting while trying to prove herself to her father, Barkha revealed that she was already dealing with a lot. But things got even more intense when legal notices started piling up and Ekta’s lawyers wouldn’t stop calling.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Barkha said, “I didn’t tell anyone at home; I hired a lawyer and fought the case. Over time, she realised it was pointless, and I’m grateful that she backed off. At that time, Ektaa had the power to make or break your career—even today, she does. The case went on for about a year, and I continued shooting for my new show while also attending court hearings."

The actress shared that she did not inform her family about the lawsuit. She explained, “After fighting at home and coming to Mumbai, you can’t go back and complain."

“I had come with the pride of ‘jo bhi karungi, khud karungi.’ So, I had to handle it myself. As a newcomer, my career could have ended, but by some divine power, Ektaa backed out. If she had wanted to, she could have ended my career," concluded Bisht.

On the work front, Barkha Bisht was last seen in Power of Paanch, sharing the screen with Riva Arora, Jaiveer Juneja, Aditya Arora, Anubha Arora, Bianca Arora, Yash Sehgal, and Urvashi Dholakia.
