The drama surrounding Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni isn’t just playing out in court – it’s about to hit screens too. Their highly publicised legal feud is now being turned into a documentary, set to air on Discovery+ in the UK. For months, fans and industry insiders alike have been keeping a close watch on the legal battle between these It Ends With Us co-stars. Given the level of interest, it’s hardly a surprise that this real-life courtroom showdown is now becoming the focus of a true crime docuseries.

Lively and Baldoni both starred in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling 2016 novel, with Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios acquiring the rights in 2019. Not only did he take on the lead role, but he also directed the film. Unfortunately, things have taken a messy turn off-screen. Amidst a tangle of lawsuits involving multiple parties, their dispute has been chosen as the next instalment of Discovery+’s Vs series under the working title, Baldoni vs Lively: A Hollywood Feud. As of now, this release is exclusive to the UK, with no updates on whether it will be available in the US, reports Deadlines.

This latest addition to the Vs series follows in the footsteps of previous high-profile legal battles covered by Discovery+, such as Johnny Vs Amber: The U.S. Trial, which detailed the dramatic 2022 defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and Vardy Vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial, which explored the libel case between Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney.

Though the actual court battle between Lively and Baldoni isn’t set to begin until March 2026, the documentary is already in the works. Discovery+ is wasting no time, with a UK premiere planned for June. The series promises to explore “the twists and turns of the very public battle between the It Ends With Us star and director" while offering a deeper look into the looming court cases.

While details about a US release remain unclear, another documentary covering the legal war is on its way to American audiences. Titled In Dispute: Lively v. Baldoni, it will premiere on ID on March 31 before becoming available to stream on Max and Discovery+.

This isn’t the first documentary dealing with their legal clash. Earlier this month, Investigation Discovery and Channel 5 (now rebranded as 5) released He Said, She Said: Blake Lively vs Justin Baldoni in the UK on March 17. A condensed version, In Dispute: Lively v. Baldoni, is already available for streaming on Max.

When It Ends With Us hit cinemas in August 2024, it became an instant box office triumph. With a production budget of $25 million, it went on to rake in a staggering $349.7 million globally – Wayfarer Studios’ biggest success to date. Sony, which distributed the adaptation, also had plenty to celebrate. But not everything was smooth sailing.

Soon after the premiere, controversy erupted around Blake Lively’s approach to the press tour for the domestic violence-themed movie. Criticism poured in and just as the buzz was starting to settle, Lively reignited the conversation with a bombshell legal complaint.

In her filing, she accused Baldoni and Wayfarer CEO Jamey Heath of sexual harassment on set. She also claimed they orchestrated a smear campaign to silence her. The very next day, The New York Times ran an extensive feature on her case, claiming to have reviewed thousands of pages of evidence that exposed the alleged smear tactics.

Baldoni wasted no time in firing back. Denying all accusations, he hit back with a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times, followed by a $400 million countersuit against Lively, citing defamation. More lawsuits soon followed, dragging PR firms and other parties into the escalating legal war. In response, Baldoni’s legal team has filed multiple motions to dismiss various claims made against him.

As this legal battle intensifies, so does the public fascination with it. With multiple documentaries already rolling out and more in development, it’s clear that the ongoing Hollywood feud isn’t just a legal fight – it’s a drama playing out right now.
