Tamil director Vignesh Shivan has clarified that he did not enquire about the price of a government-owned restaurant on the Puducherry beach road to the Tourism Minister and had only asked for permission to shoot a film.
“This is to clarify a silly news circulating about me trying to acquire a govt property in Pondicherry! I had gone to Pondicherry to see the airport to get shooting permission for my film “Love Insurance Kompany"," Shivan explained in an Instagram post.

Acknowledging that he became a subject of trolls, Shivan added, “As a matter of respect and out of courtesy had to meet the honourable CM, and the honourable tourism minister, unexpectedly the local manager who came along had enquired about something for him after my meeting and that has been mistakenly connected with me for no reason the memes created and the jokes made were really funny & inspiring yet unnecessary! Hence, wanted to clarify this"
Tourism Minister Lakshmi Narayanan had also issued a clarification about the same.
There were numerous claims that Vignesh Shivan had met Puducherry politicians to request the purchase of Sea Gulls restaurant on the Puducherry Beach Road which is owned by the Tourism Department.
