Ed Sheeran’s rendition of Jr NTR’s Chuttamalle from Devara, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has taken social media by storm. The song, which initially gained traction through reels and short clips, has now made a surprise comeback — this time, thanks to Sheeran singing it.

Just days ago, he went viral for performing Urvashi Urvashi from Kadhalan/Premikudu alongside A.R. Rahman. Now, in Bengaluru, he amazed fans by singing his first Telugu song, Chuttamalle, during his concert. Indian playback singer Shilpa Rao joined him on stage, making the performance even more special as the crowd sang along enthusiastically. The duo’s collaboration quickly went viral across social media, with fans praising Ed Sheeran for embracing Indian music and culture. Many were thrilled to see him sing in Telugu, following his attempt at Punjabi music last year.

Later, Sheeran shared a behind-the-scenes video of himself learning the Telugu lyrics, with Shilpa helping as his dialect coach. Expressing his admiration, he wrote, “Obsessed with @shilparao’s voice for the last while, a real privilege to share the stage tonight, and learn a new language!"

Initially, some fans doubted the authenticity of the viral video, but Sheeran’s official social media confirmed it, even featuring clips of him rehearsing the song with his team. With his global influence, Chuttamalle is now set to reach an even wider audience.

Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour has been attracting huge crowds in India. He has already performed in Hyderabad and Chennai. He will next perform in Shillong and Delhi NCR.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the British singer-songwriter’s live street performance in Bengaluru was abruptly stopped by the local police. Several videos of the police pulling the plug on his jamming session at Church Street went viral on social media. Now, hours after the incident, Ed Sheeran has himself shared a clarification on social media, revealing that he had permission to busk, and that he didn’t just randomly turn up at the spot.

Ahead of Ed Sheeran’s concert at NICE Grounds, Bengaluru, the singer took to his Instagram story, and clarified, “We had permission to busk btw, hence us playing in that exact spot, was planned out before, it wasn’t just us randomly turning up. All good though. See ya at the show tonight x".
