Anticipation is soaring for the third and final season of Netflix’s thriller Squid Game. With the previous installment ending on a cliffhanger and leaving several questions unanswered, fans are eager to see how the makers will wrap up this gripping survival saga. While excitement builds for the epic conclusion, a new report allegedly revealing the episode count and production cost has surfaced online—sparking mixed reactions among fans.

According to the online forum Instiz, the third season of Squid Game has reportedly been produced on a staggering budget of 100 million KRW (approximately $49,000) for a total of six episodes. While many were astonished by the high production costs, others speculated on what the creators had planned for the much-anticipated grand finale.

Fans took to the comment section of the forum, flooding it with diverse reactions. One wrote, “Season 1 was already a worldwide hit, so even if seasons 2 and 3 failed, it would still be profitable," while another said that the production cost of the show might be covered by using the copyright since all the collaborations were done by companies paying Netflix. On the other hand, a section of fans was disappointed about the leaked number of episodes. Considering that the previous seasons comprised a total of nine and seven episodes each, the reduction in Season 3 left fans upset that it might be difficult to wrap the entire storyline in just half a dozen episodes, as per Koreaboo.

However, an official confirmation about the same is yet to be offered by the streaming giant or director Hwang Dong Hyuk. The final season of Squid Game is ready to premiere on June 27, nearly six months after the season installment came out on Netflix.
