The duo became close friends during the filming of their magnum opus RRR, which was released in 2022. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the film also starred Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles and emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of all time. Adding to its glory, RRR made history by winning an Oscar for Naatu Naatu, the electrifying song featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan.
Earlier, in an interview, when asked about the competitiveness between him and Jr NTR, the Acharya actor shared, “The film was just a way for us to show to the world that we are friends. And, yes, there was competition, but it was healthy. Throughout the filming, we tried to help each other and understand each other’s mental and physical conditions."
On the work front, Ram Charan was last seen in the political thriller film Game Changer opposite actress Kiara Advani. Helmed by Shankar, the film failed at the box office. He will be next seen in director Buchi Babu Sana’s next highly anticipated film, Peddi. It also features Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role.
To mark the actor’s 40th birthday, the makers announced the film’s official title, Peddi, and dropped the first look of Ram Charan, which seems quite similar to Allu Arjun’s rugged look from Pushpa. Sharing a couple of posts, the director wrote in the caption, “Happy Birthday my Dear Ram Charan Sir. In one word you are Gold Sir. Tqq for everything Sir."
