Kim Soo Hyun Faces Backlash For Dodging Reporter’s Question About Kim Sae Ron
People on the internet started applauding the courage of the female reporter for asking Soo Hyun the right question.
Weeks after the late Kim Sae Ron’s aunt made some bombshell revelations regarding her relationship with actor Kim Soo Hyun, the latter held a press conference to share his side of the story. What caught everyone’s attention was a notice shared by the actor’s agency, Gold Medalist. In it, they mentioned that Soo Hyun and his legal representatives from LKB & Partners would share their official statements regarding the controversy. However, they restricted the media, saying that “there will be no separate Q&A session beyond the [shared] statements."
Despite their attempt to quelch media questioning, a reporter did not settle for the rule. In a widely shared video on social media, a female reporter was heard demanding an answer from the actor. Right after Soo Hyun wrapped up his statement with tears in his eyes, the reporter asked him, “Kim Soo Hyun, can you tell me when and where you first met Kim Sae Ron? I think that will be okay. Please tell me when and where you first met."

Even though the question was loud and clear, as heard in the video, the Queen of Tears actor decided to walk off the dias without answering it. He, along with his legal representative, ignored the question and left the place amid camera flashes. As the video played, Soo Hyun, who was still emotional, was seen consoled by his lawyer.

Both domestic and international users have been praising the reporter for breaking the “no question" rule and demanding an answer. On the other hand, the It’s Okay to Not Be Okay actor has been facing severe backlash following his move.
Taking to X, a user said, “Kim Soo Hyun doing a press conference without taking questions like just issue a press statement? Wasting everyone’s time." Another added, “I was really waiting to see if he’ll answer the questions. Obviously he was triggered by it… that’s a guilty man’s behaviour."

“And it’s a woman who asked him! Such a brave reporter!!! Please don’t stop asking real questions to this man, however uncomfortable the answer might be," a different user quipped.
In the press meet, which took place on March 31, KST, at the Stanford Hotel in Seoul, the Queen of Tears actor strongly denied dating Sae Ron when she was a minor. He also mentioned that his agency had no role in her tragic death.
