L2 Empuraan Box Office Day 2: Mohanlal-Prithviraj Film Earns Rs 5.58 Cr, Continues Strong Run

L2: Empuraan, the highly anticipated Malayalam action drama starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, continues its phenomenal box office run. After shattering all opening records by earning Rs 22 crore in India on day 1, the film maintained strong momentum on day 2 as well.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk.com, Empuraan collected an estimated Rs 5.58 crore net across all languages in India till 9:30 pm on its second day. The film maintained a solid 42.13% overall Malayalam occupancy on Friday. Kochi topped the occupancy charts with 77%, followed by Thrissur at 70%, Kollam at 67%, Kottayam at 61%, and Kozhikode at 62%.

Empuraan also recorded decent occupancy across other languages. On Friday, the film registered 7.34% occupancy in Kannada, 10.80% in Telugu, 16.18% in Tamil, and 4.69% in Hindi.
Sacnilk further reported that Empuraan’s advance bookings have set new benchmarks for Malayalam films. The pre-sales for its opening day crossed Rs 35 crore, and it surpassed Rs 50 crore in gross worldwide collections within the first weekend. This makes Empuraan the first Malayalam film to reach Rs 50 crore in pre-release sales alone.
The previous record-holder was Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, which grossed Rs 20 crore globally on its opening day.
L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, features a stellar cast, including Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Abhimanyu Singh, Indrajith Sukumaran, Jerome Flynn, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. The film, written by Murali Gopy, serves as a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer and is the second part of a planned trilogy.
The film has been released not just in Malayalam but also in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu, extending its appeal across linguistic boundaries.
With the extended weekend ahead and strong word of mouth, L2: Empuraan looks set to break several more records and redefine success for Malayalam cinema.
