L2 Empuraan Director Prithviraj Sukuraman Didn't Know Nikhat Khan Was Aamir Khan’s Sister
Prithviraj Sukumaran shared he chose Nikhat Khan for L2 Empuraan after getting impressed by her audition tape and wasn’t aware she has a connection with Aamir Khan.
Prithviraj Sukumaran recently visited Mumbai to promote his upcoming Malayalam film L2 Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal in the lead role. The film also stars Nikhat Khan Hegde, Aamir Khan’s sister, who plays Subhadra Ben. During the press event, Prithviraj made an interesting revelation about her casting and shared that he chose Nikhat for the role after getting impressed by her audition tape. During the time, he wasn’t aware, she had a connection with the Bollywood superstar. While the actor was appreciating Nikhat’s skills, his casting agent informed him that she was Aamir Khan’s sister, which left him surprised.
Prithviraj said, “I know she’s there in my film for a very very little while, but I know how important she’s in the film. It was a privilege to have her on location. I did not know she was Aamir sir’s sister. I know Aamir sir quite well, so finally when the audition tapes came through and I said, ‘I like her.’ When I saw her audition I said, ‘I want her.’ My casting director said, ‘Yeah, she’s wonderful, by the way she’s also Aamir sir’s sister,’ I said ‘Really?’ So I called Aamir sir."

Opening up about her character in a promotional video, Nikhat Khan Hegde said, “Subhadra Ben is a royal lady who is the owner of this huge haveli and she is regal, but still, has a lot of humanity in her. She supports and helps out a group of people who are in trouble. She has a lot of love, a lot of resilience, but there’s also betrayal. Through Subhadra Ben I got to explore different layers of emotion. And I also feel honoured that I give a very important message in this film."

Other than Mohanlal and Nikhat Khan, L2 Empuraan, the sequel of the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, also features Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh and Nyla Usha.
The upcoming Malayalam film is set to become Prithviraj Sukumaran’s third directorial project, following Lucifer and Bro Daddy. All three films stars Mohanlal in the lead role. The film, which is scheduled to release on March 27, will be available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
