Pankaj Tripathi's Wife Mridula Recalls How Their Love Blossomed When She Gave Him A Handkerchief

Pankaj Tripathi often speaks fondly of his wife, Mridula Tripathi, in the media. The actor has been married to Mridula for almost 20 years now. The couple met at a wedding in 1993. In a recent interview, Mridula opened up about how they fell in love. She revealed that a handkerchief played a major role in their love story.
In a conversation with Atul Taishete on Conversations With Atul, Mridula Tripathi revealed how the love story between her and Pankaj Tripathi blossomed. Mridula recalled that she had first seen Pankaj in a photograph. She mentioned that they met for the first time at her brother’s tilak ceremony. Fondly recalling the memories, she said, “I saw my husband and he saw me on May 23, 1993, for the first time. We saw each other a lot in the tilak. I tell Pankaj that I first saw you when you were just growing a beard, and now I see you with spectacles. It has been a long journey."

Mridula mentioned how they both liked each other and were often looking for reasons to meet. She revealed that they first started talking when Pankaj wanted a handkerchief. She continued, “The conversation started like ‘haath dhoya toh rumaal chahiye’ (since I have washed my hands, I need a handkerchief). So, I was the one to give the handkerchief to him. Rumaal dene mein hi haath touch ho gaya (while handing over the handkerchief, our hands touched). Through that slight touch only you got butterflies those days."
In the same conversation, Mridula talked about how they were related to each other. He was her sister-in-law’s brother. She was asked to call him ‘bhaiya’ but she always called him ‘Pankaj ji.’ She also revealed how her mother-in-law has not accepted her till now due to cultural reasons.
The couple tied the knot in January 2004. They have a daughter together, Aashi.
