Dancer-turned-actor Raghav Juyal received plaudits for his antagonistic role in the July-released actioner Kill, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. Despite the film’s widespread acclaim, the 33-year-old has not let fame get into his head. In a recent roundtable conversation with Sharvari, Abhay Verma, Anasuya Sengupta and Pratibha Ranta, Raghav discussed the transient nature of fame and the importance of staying grounded.

The dancer-turned-actor was speaking on The Hollywood Reporter India’s Next Big Thing Roundtable when he reflected on his 14-year-long career in showbiz. Raghav emphasised that fame is temporary, whereas one’s craft will stay with them forever. “Fame will come and go, but your craft and your inner art will be with you forever," he said.

Recalling a time when he stepped away from the limelight for five years, Raghav mentioned how people would call him less, and he wasn’t getting invited to events. The actor also noted that designers no longer offered him clothes, as he was not in the public eye. He emphasised that these experiences are quite common in the industry.

In the same conversation, Raghav discussed the importance of staying relevant in the industry. He pointed out how people tend to associate with those who are in the spotlight, but once someone steps away, those same people often disappear. He further added, “People start giving you advice on staying relevant, telling you to participate in events and reality shows."

Raghav also talked about his erratic nature, sharing how he would stick to his own plan if someone ever tried to convince him otherwise. He said, “Main hoon thoda sanki sa, agar koi bol deta hai toh mera aur ho jata hai ki ab toh bilkul nahi karna woh cheez. Ab toh yahi karna hai jo thana tha (I am a little crazy, if someone tells me to do something then I become more resolute on not doing that thing. Now I will do what I had decided to do)."

He pointed out how many talented artists, some even more talented than him, aren’t getting the right chances. Hence, he thinks that people shouldn’t let fame get into their heads and be careful of it.

Raghav also talked about award shows, mentioning that he usually doesn’t like attending those. In the conversation, he criticised the unfair seating arrangements in such shows. He said, “The front row is occupied by people who have nothing to do with films, and artists are sitting in the third row, I can’t stand that." Raghav mentioned that he would only attend award shows if he’s being seated in the front row, or is getting paid or given an award. Otherwise, he wouldn’t attend such shows.

Raghav concluded his opinion, revealing how designers would ask him to wear their clothes once Kill became popular. That’s why he advised others to be careful when they get fame and asked not to lose their calm. The actor was most recently seen in the film Yudhra.
