Rajinikanth’s Coolie Creates Pre-Release Buzz, Report Claims Telugu Rights May Cost Rs 40 Crore
Coolie promises to be a high-octane action film with Rajinikanth leading the charge. While the plot has been kept under wraps, speculation suggests that the superstar will play a part with fascinating negative shades.
Coolie, the superstar Rajinikanth starrer gangster drama pan India film has been creating abuzz on social media ever since its announcement. Helmed by Lokesh Kanagraj, the shooting for the film is now completed and it’s slated for a grand release on the occasion of Independence Day 2025. It is among one of the most anticipated films of the year and a new report suggests that apparently, as many as six Telugu producers are in talks with Coolie makers at Sun Pictures to snatch the film’s Telugu dubbing rights.
According to 123Telugu, looking at the ongoing buzz around the film, the makers have now demanded a whopping Rs 40 Crore just for the Telugu rights of the film. However, the deal is yet to be locked and an official confirmation regarding the same is expected soon.

The film also features South stars Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra and Soubin Shahir in significant roles. It will reportedly also have a special cameo by actor Aamir Khan. Anirudh Ravichander, on the other hand, has composed the music.
Recently, a Koimoi report suggested that the film’s digital rights have been acquired by the OTT giant Amazon Prime Video for a whopping Rs 120 crore. If the rumours are true, then this deal ranks among the biggest ever for digital streaming rights. Rajinikanth’s Jailer was acquired by the same platform for Rs 100 crore.

Despite being directed by Lokesh Kanagraj, the film will not be a part of his LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe), which includes Kaithi, Vikram and Leo.
Recently, the makers of Coolie announced the film’s official release date with a new poster. Sharing the post on Instagram, the makers wrote in the caption, “Sound-ah yethu! Deva Varraaru #Coolie worldwide from August 14th."

Coolie will be having a big box office clash with War 2 featuring Jr NTR, Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. Backed by Yash Raj Films and directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 marks the sixth film in the YRF’s spy universe.
