Rupali Ganguly has opened up about facing the casting couch in the film industry. In a recent interview, the Anupamaa actress mentioned that she was considered a ‘failure’ in films because it was her conscious decision to step away from Bollywood.

“I didn’t do well in films, and that was a choice I made because predominantly casting couch existed in the industry at that point of time. Maybe some people didn’t come across it, but people like me did, and I decided not to make that choice. So, you are considered a failure because you come from a film family," she said, as quoted by Pinkvilla.

The actress further expressed her gratitude towards Rajan Shahi and talked about how the television show Anupamaa changed her life. “I did feel small back then, but thanks to Anupamaa, I feel very proud. The show gave me the stature that I always dreamt of. It has been a life-changing experience," she added.

Rupali Ganguly’s Anupamaa is one of the top television shows today, which has been ruling the TRP charts for years now. However, a report recently claimed that the actress is likely to quit Rajan Shahi’s show. Later, Rupali also broke silence on the report and called it baseless.

In an emotional message, Rupali Ganguly expressed her deep connection with Anupamaa and said, “Wow, people really have some overactive imagination. But thank you for talking about me and talking about the show. What can I say? Every person has a core, and my core, I believe, is gratitude. My husband and I both believe that whatever Rajan Ji has given me—the recognition, the platform, the position — I will never be able to repay it in this lifetime. And Anupamaa is not just a show for me; it’s an emotion, it’s my home, my second home, all my fur babies are here, and the unit has become like a family."

“So, does anyone leave their family, their home? And God forbid, may it never happen in life. If Rajan Ji ever says that he doesn’t need me anymore, then I might fight with him, or argue, and say, ‘Please let me stay in Anupamaa.’ I opened the gate for this show, and I will remain part of this show till the end. Even if I have to face obstacles, I will not leave," she added.
