Known for his evocative and profound writing, Akhtar admitted he struggled with the task. He explained, “If you are asked to write ‘meaningless,’ it’s a challenge. If you ask somebody to stand up here and speak for two minutes without making any sense, it’s tough. Often, gibberish happens unconsciously, but the moment you are consciously trying, it paradoxically starts to make sense."

“The director of the film, Farah told me that ‘Javed uncle I want a song in which any line does not have meaning because the whole situation is absurd.’ I realized for the first time that to write gibberish is very difficult. I’m happy that it was fairly meaningless," he further added. Cyrus then said that in spite of the lyrics being fairly meaningless, it became a hugely popular song with many people knowing it by heart.

In an interview, Sukhwinder Singh shared that he recorded the song barefoot. He explained that he was in a mood to dance during the recording session and didn’t want the sound of his footsteps to disrupt the track.
