Badshah’s Kar Gayi Chull has been, is, and will continue to be a mandatory party anthem. The track from Kapoor & Sons featured Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra, marking a crucial point in the film. While the song’s hook step is equally popular, the words ‘Matak matak jaise Raveena Tandon’ are surely one of the highlights of the track. Raveena, who marked a special appearance on Indian Idol 15 finale as a guest judge alongside Badshah, Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Dadlani, spoke about her first reaction when filmmaker Karan Johar called her to take permission for using her name in the song.

When the filmmaker told her about it, Raveena was more than amazed. But KJo feared Raveena’s husband Anil Thadani might have a problem with it. So, he asked the actor to doubly check with her husband lest he got into trouble for it later. She recalled the incident during a segment on Indian Idol.

“Honestly, mujhe nahi pata tha aise aane waala hain. Mujhe pata hain Karan [Johar] ne call kiya and hum toh inke [Badshah] bohot bade fan the hi. I used to listen to all his raps, it was so cool. So Karan said he wanted my permission to use my name in the song. Maine kaha ‘How sweet! Of course use it’. He said, ‘Pehle Anil Thadani [Raveena’s husband] ka kya hoga. Wo mujhe marega toh nahi? Tu Pehle Anil se pooch le if it’s okay to use your name’ (Honestly, I didn’t know it was going to happen like this. I remember Karan called, and we were already huge fans of him [Badshah]. I used to listen to all his raps; they were so cool. So, Karan said he wanted my permission to use my name in the song. I said, ‘How sweet! Of course, use it.’ But then he said, ‘What about Anil Thadani? He’s not going to kill me, right? First, ask Anil if it’s okay to use your name)."

She continued, “Karan made me listen to the song and I was like whether Anil says yes or no, I will say yes to Badshah anyway," she said. Watch the video here:

As the clip continued, the Raveena was seen joining Badshah on stage, and the duo grooved to the iconic track, Kabhi Tu Chhalia Lagta Hai, from the 1991 film Patthar Ke Phool, which originally featured the former with Salman Khan.
