Union Budget 2025: 6 Finance Ministers With Most Budget Presentations
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for a record 8th consecutive year in 2025.
With the Union Budget 2025-2026 set to be presented on February 1, 2025, let’s take a look at the finance ministers who have the presented the most number of budgets to date.

Morarji Desai (1959-1963, 1967-1969): Former Prime Minister Morarji Desai holds the record for presenting the most number of budgets. He presented a total of 10 budgets during his tenure as finance minister under Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and later Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. He presented his first budget on February 28, 1959.
P. Chidambaram (1996-1998, 2004-2008, 2013-2014): With nine budgets presented, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram is second. He first presented the budget on March 19, 1996 during the United Front government led by Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. He presented another budget under the same government the next year and again assumed this post in 2014 when the Congress-led UPA came to power.

Pranab Mukherjee (1982-1984, 2009-2012): Pranab Mukherjee has the record of presenting a total of 8 budgets.
