WWE superstar Kevin Owens has opened up about his contract status with the pro wrestling company. Owens has been involved in one of the company’s key storylines involving the Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes. He recently lost the title match to the American Nightmare on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Ahead of the blockbuster show, Owens spoke with Alex McCarthy of the Daily Mail where he was asked about his current contract situation with the WWE. The 40-year-old seemingly dodged the question and suggested nothing has been sorted for the company’s upcoming events in Europe. “I don’t think anything is sorted for those shows yet," he said in the interview.

Owens touched upon the importance of the upcoming events in Europe. “Obviously knowing WWE and knowing how important this is being made for everyone here, this is clearly a big deal to them. Hitting all these European towns and cities back-to-back for three weeks in a row with TV there and big live events. It is a big deal," he added.

Asked about the most important thing when considering his next contract in professional wrestling, Owens responded by saying that he just wanted to feel happy and fulfilled. “I just want to be happy. But I can’t tell you what that means exactly, because I don’t actually know it either. I just want to feel fulfilled. There is a lot that goes into that. It is more intricate than we have time to get into," he concluded.

When asked about his Universal Championship clash with Rhodes, the star suggested he was quite excited for the bout. “It is great to be part of the Saturday Night Main Event in such a big way. I would have loved for it to be at Survivor Series in Vancouver, to be honest, but I am sure there is a reason it couldn’t be there," he said.

The Universal title shot, however, didn’t quite go in Owens’ favour as he was pinned by Rhodes on Saturday Night Main Event. During the clash, Owens sent Rhodes straight into the referee who was knocked out of the ring. A second official stepped in but was knocked out again – this time by Rhodes who attempted to take out Owens from the ropes. With both officials down, Owens introduced a chair into the match. The plan backfired as Rhodes used the chair to take him out with a Cross Rhodes. The champion then disposed of the evidence before pinning Owens to retain his title.
