WWE icon The Undertaker believes the young wrestling stars of today must master a particular skill. The Phenom is arguably the biggest star that WWE ever produced.

The Hall of Famer won several championships at the Stamford-based company in his decades-long career. The Undertaker is also known for sharing unfiltered thoughts about the business. He recently spoke to Graham Matthews of WrestleRant and discussed how wrestlers nowadays are more focused on their athletic abilities rather than creating an engaging story.

“A lot of these young wrestlers are relying so much on their athletic gifts that they’re not learning how to tell stories," he said.

The Undertaker even opined that modern wrestlers didn’t care much about the business. “If you make them care, you’ve won, and that is the biggest thing," he said. The multi-time world champion also felt that things were improving as better storytellers were slowly joining the industry. “I think that’s one of the bigger problems we have. It’s getting better because we are getting some good storytellers now," he added.

In the same interview, The Undertaker also opened up on how he didn’t have a massive pool of moves in his in-ring career. The Phenom, however, went on to make the most of his limited moves to carve out a legendary career. “I mean, I had a pretty decent career with five moves. But I evoked emotion and made people care, one way or another. That’s how you become a legend," he said.

The Undertaker made his WWE debut over three decades ago, during the 1990 Survivor Series. Exactly 30 years later, the Phenom retired from wrestling in the 2020 edition of the same premium live event. The Undertaker’s final farewell was hosted in front of an empty arena. Following a parade of WWE Hall of Famers, the Undertaker spoke briefly before performing his signature salute. The legends who appeared during the segment included The Big Show, Jeff Hardy, Booker T, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Triple H and Kane.

While the Undertaker retired from in-ring wrestling, it wasn’t the last time the WWE Universe saw him appear at a live event. He shocked everyone during WrestleMania 40 when he returned to help Cody Rhodes beat Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. The Undertaker was later seen in a classic American Badass look during WWE RAW’s Netflix premiere in January 2025. The Phenom returned to celebrate Rhea Ripley’s Women’s World Championship triumph.
