Chrome users on Windows have got a new vulnerability issue that needs to be addressed immediately. The company’s detailed security assessment is now being doubled up by the Indian government through its security wing the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In this week. Windows users often face these threats but Chrome is equally vulnerable and the new update comes with a major risk for millions of PCs using the popular web browser.

Many people are aware of the Chrome Sandbox protection which basically helps you from becoming a victim of major security threats. But what happens when this security mode itself is vulnerable to further attacks, that’s what the latest CERT-In security alert notifies the Chrome users. “A vulnerability has been reported in Google Chrome which could allow a remote attacker to bypass Google Chrome sandbox protection on the targeted system," the bulletin dated March 26 says.
So, what caused the Sandbox mode to become a security risk for Chrome users? “A vulnerability exists in Google Chrome due to Incorrect handle provided in unspecified circumstances in Mojo on Windows," as the security agency explains about the reason for the new risk.
The agency also points out that Google Chrome versions prior to 134.0.6998.177/.178 for Windows are the ones are risk because of the Sandbox vulnerabilities. The risks are being actively exploited in the wild which has obviously come to Google’s notice and it has already worked on a fix for these issues on Chrome.
