The Uttarakhand Child Rights Protection Commission has launched an inquiry following a controversial order issued by Army Public School, Veerpur in Dehradun, following a News18 report.
The commission has summoned school principal Neelam Kaushik to provide an explanation in person within two days regarding a directive that barred Class 12 students scoring below 60% in pre-board exams from attending the school’s farewell party.

The order, signed by Principal Kaushik, drew widespread criticism from the school community and across social media platforms.
Commission Secretary SK Baranwal issued a notice to Principal Kaushik, stating that the order was demoralizing for students and warning of potential consequences if a satisfactory explanation is not provided.
News18 broke this story on February 2, 2025. When contacted for comment, the school administration declined to appear on camera but maintained that the decision was made in consultation with parents.
