The cost of living keeps rising, making many question how much money is enough to support a family. A recent post on Reddit caught attention when a user revealed that despite earning Rs 82,000 a month, he struggles to manage his finances and a home loan. Sharing his daily routine and skills, the individual explained that after finishing work, he reaches home by 7 pm and helps his wife in the kitchen. After finishing dinner by 8:30 pm, he gets some free time before going to bed at 11 pm. He’s good at public speaking and customer service, and also knows how to design using Canva and PowerPoint. In his free time, he enjoys reading to expand his knowledge and asked for second job ideas to boost his income.
The individual wrote, “So I work in a 9-6 job and earn 82000/- rupees per month, however my income is not sufficient enough to run a family as I have a large chunk of Home Loan to pay. I am looking for ideas via which I can generate some extra income. I return home at around 7 pm and then help my wife in the kitchen. I got freed up after having dinner at around 8:30 pm and I got to sleep by 11pm at max."

Reacting to the post, a user suggested, “Upskill and switch jobs. That’s it."
Another noted, “Start some YouTube channels or you can also freelance, some get paid really well."
“You can take up a guest lecturer role at some nearby local MBA colleges. As you mentioned you are good at public speaking, literature and history, try to develop a curiosity around the evolution of strategy from wars to businesses. This concept will be intriguing to a lot of young students and also colleges need some good guest faculty to teach their students on these topics as the academic curriculum for the same topic would be very boring," a comment read.
An individual shared, “More than a second job you need more of a side hustle that generates some extra income as your current schedule might now allow a second job. There are ways to generate online income which is not a get rich quick scheme but needs effort."
One more added, “No offence, your skills are not really good, try to learn something that you can actually make money through freelancing."
Many people advised him to move to a bigger city for better job opportunities. However, he explained that he lives in a small town where jobs are limited. He also mentioned that moving is not an option for him because of his family responsibilities.
