Bank Holiday Today, February 20: Banks are closed in certain parts of Northeastern states due to statehood day there. Physical branches of the banks will be shut throughout the day there, making it inaccessible for customers to avail baking services offline.
However, online banking services will continue as usual without any hindrance. It allows people to carry out online transactions, bill payments and other online services available on the online platforms of these banks.

Statehood Day In Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram
The day has been commemorated in some Northeastern states as official recognition in the Indian Union.
Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are key states that celebrate their Statehood Day on February 20. As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, scheduled commercial banks, cooperative banks, and regional rural banks will remain closed in observance of this holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, both Union Territories since 1972, attained statehood on February 20, 1987. Arunachal Pradesh was previously part of the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) before its restructuring as an independent state.
Therefore, government offices, banks, and other institutions will remain closed in these parts.
