Stat Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc entered his name in the history books on Sunday (March 30) by becoming the first pacer to take a five-wicket haul in the IPL for Delhi Capitals. The 35-year-old left-arm pacer opened the bowling attack for Delhi Capitals against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025 match currently underway at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam and finished with figures of 5 for 35 in 3.4 overs.

He opened his wicket account by getting Ishan Kishan (2) caught out by Tristan Stubbs on the first ball of the third over, and two balls later, he dismissed Nitish Kumar Reddy for a two-ball duck. The Andhra-based cricketer was caught by DC captain Axar Patel.
In his third over of the match, Starc then removed Travis Head. Head handed an easy catch to wicketkeeper KL Rahul after making 22 runs from 12 balls.
Starc, who joined Delhi Capitals for Rs 11.75 crore in the mega auction, got Harshal Patel (5) and Wiaan Mulder (9) caught out by Axar and Faf du Plessis, respectively, in the 19th over of SRH’s innings to complete his maiden five-wicket haul in the IPL as well as T20 cricket.

The five-wicket haul on Sunday was Starc’s first fifer in the shortest format of the game, and his fourth wicket of the match also helped him cross the 200-wicket mark in T20s. He has 201 wickets to his name in 144 T20s played so far.
