'We're Still Hopeful Of Winning 6/6': Stephen Fleming Backs CSK To Keep Playoffs Hopes Alive
Chennai Super Kings will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their ninth league match of IPL 2025 on Friday, April 25, at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Chennai Super Kings have only managed to win two out of eight IPL 2025 matches played so far, and with four points, the joint most successful team in IPL history sits at the last position in the points table. Chennai Super Kings suffered a humiliating defeat by six wickets against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in their last IPL match played on Sunday, April 20, at Wankhede Stadium, and on Friday, April 25, the MS Dhoni-led side will face Sunrisers Hyderabad.
If CSK fail to get the better of Orange Army in front of their home fans on Friday, then their playoff chances will all be over. A seventh defeat will not allow CSK to finish with more than 14 points, and the 14-point mark might prove enough this time around to book a place in the top four.

On the eve of CSK’s must-win match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, CSK’s head coach Stephen Fleming attended the pre-match press conference, and while speaking to reporters, he said that the Chennai-based franchise is still hopeful of winning all six remaining matches in the league stage and progressing to the next round.
“We’re still hopeful of winning 6 out of 6, and some will giggle at that, but RCB set a blueprint for that the year before. So while there’s still a chance, we have one eye on making sure that we think the best players for this game coming up will play, but we’re also aware that if it doesn’t work out, we’ve got to make the most of what has been a poor season," Fleming said.
“And the work we did a couple of times – we were in this position in the past – set us up to win the title the following year. So we’re certainly aware of what needs to be done and how we can go about it," he added.
The former New Zealand captain, who is the most successful head coach in IPL history, said that there won’t be a wasted game or opportunity in the next few weeks, and the players know about it.
“And when that time comes, we will make sure there is no stone left unturned to get things right. There won’t be a wasted game or an opportunity in the next few weeks, and the players know that as well. And that creates opportunity and creates a bit of competition within. We won’t let any time go to waste," said Fleming.
