Husband Attacks Pregnant Woman With Brick In Hyderabad, Arrested

Hyderabad Crime: In a shocking incident, a pregnant woman was allegedly attacked with cement bricks by her husband, who has since been arrested, police said on Monday.
A video of the incident has gone viral, triggering widespread outrage.

According to the police, the accused, identified as Basharath, 32, is an interior designer. He and Shabana, 22, a Kolkata native, met in an auto while visiting Ajmer Dargah in Rajasthan in January 2023.
The couple married in October 2024 in Kolkata. Following their marriage, Shabana relocated to Hyderabad earlier this year, but the couple subsequently began experiencing family issues, a police release said.
On 29 March 2025, Shabana was admitted to a private hospital with weakness and vomiting. In the hospital, she revealed to the staff that her husband was abusing her.
Later, at around 10 pm on 1 April, the accused arrived at the hospital to take her home, but she refused.
In a fit of rage, Basharath allegedly dragged Shabana out and threw her onto the road near the hospital, where he brutally attacked her with two cement bricks, striking her chest and head around 12–14 times before fleeing the scene.
According to the police release, the hospital staff who rushed to the spot identified her. The accused was arrested on the night of 2 April and produced before a local court on 3 April, the release added.
The woman, who was found unconscious, is currently undergoing medical treatment.
