Mumbai Woman Attacked By Two Pet Dogs On Her Way Home, Undergoes Nose Surgery

A 37-year-old woman in Mumbai had to undergo surgery to repair her nose after being attacked by two pet dogs, a Doberman and a Pitbull, while on her way to her apartment.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning in Jalvayu Vihar, Sector A, when the woman, Richa Sanchit Kaushik-Arora, was on her way to check on the progress of construction work at her new home.

According to the police report, Richa was leaving her building when two dogs, owned by Divesh Virk, a local resident, suddenly charged at her. At the time of the attack, the dogs were being handled by Virk’s driver, Atul Sawant, and his housekeeper, Swati.
In her police complaint, Richa described the attack, alleging that one of the dogs, a brown one handled by Swati, charged at her and bit her. As she tried to push the dog away, the second dog, a smaller black one controlled by Sawant, also attacked her, The Indian Express reported.
“While trying to avert their attacks, I fell. Then the smaller black dog bit me on my nose and right thigh, causing serious injuries to me," Richa stated.
Her father-in-law, Jitendra Sharma, and another local resident, Sanjay Jalaan, quickly rushed her to Hiranandani Hospital for treatment. Her husband, Sanchit Kaushik, a retired navy officer now working as a private pilot, later filed a complaint with the municipal corporation, seeking action against the dog owner.
Following the complaint, Powai police have filed charges against the dog’s owner, as well as Sawant and Swati, for negligent conduct towards animals. Authorities are expected to issue notices to the accused soon.
