A Delhi family’s Eid celebration ended in tragedy when their two-year-old daughter was fatally run over by a car driven by their neighbour in central Delhi’s Paharganj area, an official said on Monday.
The incident occurred when a 15-year-old driving a black Hyundai car ran over a minor who was playing on the street outside her home.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the car slowly approaching the minor, stopping about a metre away. It then started moving again, crushing the child under its left front wheel.
Local residents rushed to the car and pulled the child out from under the wheel. However, she succumbed to her injuries while being taken to the hospital, officials said.
The incident took place around 6.15 pm on Sunday at Ram Nagar in Paharganj.
The initial probe revealed that the vehicle involved belonged to a neighbour of the victim’s family, and his son was driving at the time of the accident, a senior police officer said.
A case has been registered under sections 281 (rash and negligent driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the BNS, and further investigation is underway, he added.
